about

(long, but worth the read. sip some tea, take a breath, and journey with me)

I️ started Our Wildest Dreams because I️ got tired of watching Black women dedicate their lives to everyone else but themselves and I️ wanted to change that.

I️ watched my mother, my friends, my sisters, hell even strangers forget who they were and why they were here on this earth. They forgot their magick, they became severed from their innate ability to create, and they found themselves aimlessly wading through each day giving up on the idea that things could actually change.

Burnout became their norm. And slowly, but surely, I️ began to see the spark in their eyes start to dim as they settled into lives that felt so far away from what their hearts wanted. The inner passion and fire smothered by the weight and responsibilities of life, and eventually they conceded to it. Allowing it to go out and merely existing as the walking dead.

Watching this was already scary and painful to witness, then one day I️ found myself in the same slump. I️ woke up one morning, looked in the mirror, and asked the question what happened?

What happened to the girl who believed anything was possible? The adventurer, the creatrix, the bright light? Where did she go? What happened to her magick? And when did it become so hard to access it?

I’ve always been innovative and creative. I️ believe in the power of manifesting. I️ truly am the one in the family who does what I️ want. I’ve had a million jobs, worked with many companies, and have done a ton of wellness trainings, certification programs, and went to college because I️ enjoy the realm of healing and bringing visions to life.

Then, just like all of the women before and with me, it all just stopped. All I️ could see was dishes, laundry, school, meals, commuting, work, my relationships, and all of the additional responsibilities carried by women and mothers. It was like I️ lost my ability to see above me, the way your vision is blocked when wearing a hat. My dreams were no longer reachable. They were put on a shelf and for the love of all things I️ couldn’t jump high enough, get a stool tall enough, or climb my way up to them. No matter what, the more I️ reached, the more they slipped away, and it led me into a state of anxiety and depression I️ didn’t think I️’d ever escape.

When you fall into a slumber like that, it is scarily easy to forget how powerful you are, especially as an introvert! I️ had to do A LOT of inner work to reclaim and call back my visions. I️ laid out on the floor and cried to my ancestors. I️ held deep conversations with my spirit and spiritual team. I️ read books, I️ prayed to the divine, I️ got in the mirror over and over to look into my own eyes, and I️ had to get honest about the fact that the only person who could save me…was me. And the only way I️ could do it was through the execution of my dreams, just as my ancestors did before me.

And thus, Our Wildest Dreams was born with her fierce, gentle, expansive, no b.s. self.

She is the breath of fresh air we crave. She is the sweet mother who is here to nurture and protect our dreams. She is the sacred ground for us to reunite and reunify with our own spirits and higher self. She is the reminder that we’re not here to simply exist. We are here to do great things for ourselves, our lineage, and the planet. We are SO MUCH MORE.

For far too long, we have been separated from our imagination, creativity, and asé. We have been taught that dreaming and having a vision for ourselves is a waste of time, and that we should just settle for the mundane approach to life. Get the “good job“, buy the house, have the children, and sit up without complaint until we retire and expire. We have been taught that we should look a certain way, behave a certain way, follow specific beliefs in order to be acceptable, to the point of our own detriment.

Black women deserve spaces that allow their creativity, imagination, and innovative power to thrive.

Each of us has a unique destiny to fulfill. We are not here by accident or for the passage of time. We were given specific bodies, specific ideas, specific experiences to shape what we’ve been called to do. When we take the time to recognize that, we home to our own power. We come home to the understanding that it is our job to create for ourselves and the next generation. We come home to the knowing that our ancestors created with us in mind. We recognize that we’ve been living suppressed because of other people’s ideas of what is possible for us and we break free of that.

Through resting, regulating our nervous systems, embracing meditation, and a welcoming holistic way of life, we liberate our bodies and imaginations from centuries of forced colonization and protect our destiny.

We start believing in the beauty of our dreams and welcome them. They chose us to bring them forward, so we choose them back.

We build societies that reflect us, recognizing that each of us has something different to contribute. We see ourselves as artists, whether we are engineers, seamstresses, gardeners, IT programmers, motivational speakers, beauticians, historians, construction workers, oceanographers, and so on.

So when I️ ask you, “Who are you and what do you want?“, I️ want you to be able to answer.

When I️ ask you, “What kind of ancestor do you want to be?”, I️ want you to be able to answer.

When I️ ask you, “What type of legacy are you here to leave?“, I️ want you to be able to answer.

When I️ ask you, “What is blocking you from your magick?“, I️ want to be able to hold & teach you though that healing.

Let’s work together so you can live in alignment with your dreams and your destiny.

Big Love, Britt
